If you were a child of that era, there's not much else to be said other than Toni Braxton was incredibly 'hawt' and vocally alluring in her amazingly powerful ballad "Unbreak My Heart". There are few songs in my life that illicit such a powerful response the way her musical powerhouse did.
"Unbreak My Heart" is the the second most popular single by any female artist ever, second only to some of music's Royalty (Mariah Carey's Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston's Whitney, Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814, and Paula Abdul's Forever Your Girl). Now in my opinion, though some of these Divas were incredible and I will revisit their place in later articles, NONE of them brought a stir to a young man's heart in quite the way Toni did. Her stealthy sound and sexy lyrics made a slow dance with your sweetheart of choice that much more seductive. I dont recall a teacher or parent ever separating anyone from their partner over any other song as much as this. Braxton had a tough follow-up to her chart-busting single and even went through a period of financial insecurity. That being said, of the modern era, very few female artist command the vocal dexterity and stunning sultriness of Toni Braxton.
If you have yet to experience her work for yourself, dont pass up the opportunity. If you were a fan of her work years ago, dont forget to revisit her fundamentally crisp, bold, and salacious sound. I suggest with much conviction, that you will be pleasantly surprised.
